Youth in Leadership Program

The Youth in Leadership Program is a unique opportunity for dedicated youth to expand their role within Youth Court. Comprised of all three niches (attorneys, bailiffs, and clerks), members are selected based on their performance, dedication, and behavior.

Leadership members are required to attend a weekly meeting, to assist adult staff, and to mentor associate and bona fide youths during court nights. They are required to set an example for prospective candidates. 


Attorney Responsibilities

- Advocate for Youth Offenders
- Facilitate Law Associations
- Co-facilitate Basic Law Training

 

Bailiff Responsibilities

- Assist case managers with youth offenders 
- Schedule and assist with pre-hearings
- Jury deliberations
- Jury training
- Maintain order in the courtroom
- Assist with faciliating workshop

Clerk Responsibilities

- Prepare the Courtroom proceedings
- Serve as the liaison with the judges
- Documenting sentence recommendations, verdict forms, & any changes to the docket
- Thank you notes to our judges
- Preparing Courtroom buckets
- Blackouts (blocking out confidental information on police reports)
